About

Louise Lily King - Artist/Maker

I am inspired by Nature and its role in the mythology, folktales and storytelling of Britain and Ireland, having a particular fascination for Welsh myth and folklore. Creating highly detailed drawings, often with subtle hand-embellished details, I aim to capture something of the character and symbolism of the wild creatures and plants which play such an important role in these stories and traditions. I also create mixed media and textile works, using soft metals, hand stitch, and found fabrics.

Originally from Swansea, I studied for my degree in Cardiff and then lived in Bristol for many years; I relocated to South Pembrokeshire in 2021. Now living in a tiny cottage in a coastal village, I'm happiest by the sea, in the woods, or exploring the hedgerows.
